Akbar Faizal is a seasoned politician and entrepreneur with over a decade of experience in Indonesia's legislative body (Member of the House of Representatives, 2009–2019), representing South Sulawesi II under two different political parties: Hanura and NasDem. His passion for organization and leadership began in junior high school and matured during his years in various student movements, where he honed his political instincts. Before entering politics, Akbar started his career as a journalist, working for several print and regional media outlets across Indonesia. His formal political career began with the Democratic Party during its formative years, where he was appointed as the first Chairman of the Democratic Party Youth Wing. He later joined the Hanura Party, which marked his first entry into parliament. In 2013, before the end of his five-year term, Akbar transitioned to the NasDem Party and was successfully re-elected for the 2014–2019 period.
Drawing from his extensive political experience particularly in parliamentary and presidential elections Akbar founded PatraData Dashboard System, a company specializing in big data algorithms for electoral processes. Today, Patra Data is recognized as a political consultancy firm built on data-driven strategies, with proprietary algorithms tailored to political analysis. Over time, the company has expanded its expertise to include business research and consulting services.

ICW Exposes the Roots of Corruption in Indonesia: High Political Costs and Weak Law Enforcement
Lalola Esther Kaban, Coordinator of the Legal Division at Indonesian Corruption Watch (ICW), revealed that the root causes of corruption in Indonesia stem from two primary sectors: the high cost of politics and weak law enforcement that has failed to create a deterrent effect. She made these remarks during the *Akbar Faizal Uncensored* podcast on Monday (August 17, 2026). According to her, these two factors are precisely what cause anti-corruption efforts to proceed very slowly and appear to have stalled. "Personally—and indeed, even at ICW, we haven't found a single formula that offers a one-size-fits-all answer—there are two main sectors that can have a significant impact: political party and political funding reform, and law enforcement," she stated.
Prosecutors Search Madiun City Bawaslu Office; 20 Witnesses Questioned Over Alleged Corruption
An investigative team from the Madiun City District Attorney's Office (Kejari) searched the office of the Madiun City General Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) in East Java in connection with an investigation into alleged corruption. The search was conducted to gather evidence after the case entered the formal investigation stage. At least 20 witnesses—ranging from internal Bawaslu staff to members of the district-level supervisory committees (*panwascam*)—have been questioned.
